At the beginning of my third year at Saxion, I did the minor CMGT advanced. The minor was split into two parts of 8 weeks each. During the first part, we would choose 2 topics to learn about and make something with and 1 topic to write a research paper. I choose to learn about level creation and adaptive audio. I chose to write my research paper about colors in games and their effects on emotions. Both these projects went quite well, at the end I also learned to use unity’s new particle system and unity’s HDRP. The big timeframe and the nature of the assignment meant we had enough time to improve and learn new skills.
White Paper
Prototype adaptive audio
Video showcasing some of the possibilities of adaptive audio(Assets are not selfmade as this was not the focus of the assignment)
Prototype level creation
Video showcasing some of the level I created (Assets are not selfmade as this was not the focus of the assignment)
Group project
The second part of the minor was a group project in which we had to use the skills developed in the first part and develop some new skills. In this project, I was in charge of making 3D models since we had no artist on the team. I made a total of 4 props, 3 characters, and 8 texture variations for the characters. The overall project ended up okay but because the focus was more on developing skills than on making a full-fledged game and the varying skill levels in our team (some weren’t from the study) it didn’t end up becoming something big or great
