ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Daan Engbers, I am a newly graduated Game and Narrative Designer located in Enschede, The Netherlands. My main focus is Narrative design and creating concepts but I have experience with level design, Gameplay design, UI/UX, implementation, audio design, and general design.

On this site, I will post my projects to save them for myself and to show them to you! Every project has a story to tell and this site was made to tell them.

 

Project Wierkierker

Project Wierkierker

Currently I am working on an app called Wierkieker. In this app you inherit a machine from a mysterious scientist which is capable of looking into the past. Equiped with this machine you attempt to solve an age old mystery while exploring the beautiful Twickel estate in Delden. Along the way you meet colorful characters from the past, learn about Twentse culture and history, and solve exciting AR puzzles.

The app is expected to launch in December and will be completly free to play!

Intership for

I did my internship at Thales Hengelo, were I got the chance to work on their long term project called Thales Naval Warfare Game. Thales uses this game at fairs to introduce new people to the company and their work in a playfull way.

A school project were we made had to make a game which addressed a social problem and tried to educate people. We chose to make a game were you run a packing company in space to teach about the impact with of packaging and waste. For this game, I made the soundtrack, sound design, implemented items, an explosion visual effect, I wrote the game design document, and did some other small tasks. Check out the trailer below!

At the beginning of my third year at Saxion, I did the minor CMGT advanced. The minor was split into an individual and a teamproject part. I learned about level creation, unity’s HDRP , Unity’s new particle system and adaptive audio. I also wrote a research paper about colors in narratives.
